Thai, Cambodian leaders agree to avoid border conflict

Bangkok Post – Thai and Cambodian prime ministers agreed that they would prevent further clashes over border conflict, Foreign Minister Sompong Amornvivat said Friday.

“ The two sides have to advise our troops not to have confrontations any longer,” Mr Sompong told reporters after Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat met with his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen.

Second Army deputy commander Maj-Gen Veevalit Jornsamrit, meanwhile, said relations between Thai and Cambodian troops are binding because none want any violent situations to occur.

However, he insisted that Thai soldiers are ready if violence happens.
